Why one offer can no longer mix sport and casino

The 2026 rule on cross-product promotions, what it covers and how to spot an offer that breaks it.

The rule

From 19 January 2026 the Gambling Commission no longer allows promotions that mix gambling products, for example bet £10 on football and get 50 casino spins, or play bingo to unlock a free bet. Each promotion must stay within one product.

Why it changed

Offers that pull people from one product into another were found to be linked with higher rates of harm, because they introduce players to faster, more intensive forms of gambling they had not chosen. The same package of changes capped casino wagering at 10x.

What you will see instead

Betting sites now advertise betting offers, casinos advertise casino offers, and a company that runs both keeps them apart. On this site each offer is filed under one product, and the licence activity on the register should match it.

Spotting a problem

Watch for offers that use one product to unlock another, or terms that count stakes on several products towards one reward. A site advertising such an offer to people in Great Britain is either out of date or not licensed here. Check it on the Gambling Commission public register (opens in a new tab).
