Methodology

How entries are made

Licence facts from the register, offers copied word for word, the rules checked and a date on everything.

Four steps

How an entry is made

  1. Match the licence

We find the licence holder for the brand on the Gambling Commission public register, note the account number, licence number and activities, and check that the status is Active and the brand's website is among the domains.

  2. Copy the offer

We take the welcome offer from the operator's own UK promotions page where we can, or from a dated listing when the operator's page cannot be read, and copy its significant terms word for word. We do not shorten or soften them.

  3. Check the rules

Offers must fit the rules in force in Great Britain: no more than 10x wagering on casino bonuses and no mixing of betting and casino in one promotion. An offer that breaks them is not listed.

  4. Date the entry

Every entry carries the date of its last check. We aim to re-check each one at least every 90 days, and sooner when an offer changes.

Order

Why there is no ranking

Lists on this site are alphabetical. A ranking says one site is better than another for everyone, and a claim like that needs evidence we do not think anyone can fairly produce. Alphabetical order keeps the list neutral and lets you weigh licence facts and offer terms for yourself.

We do not give scores or stars. If we ever add desk notes after testing a site, they will say what we did and when, and they will sit apart from the licence facts.

Money

How commission is kept out of it

Links to operators are tagged so the operator knows the visit came from us. We may receive a commission from operators in future; a commission never decides which brands we list, the order they appear in or what we write.

Brands do not pay to be listed. Inclusion depends on an active licence and an offer that fits the rules. The full arrangement is on the advertising disclosure page.

Telling us we are wrong

If a fact on an entry is out of date, write to hello@gamblingatlas.co.uk or use the contact form. We check the register or the operator's page and correct the entry, with a new check date.
