Why this atlas stops at Great Britain

The United Kingdom has two gambling regimes. Our listings follow the one that covers England, Scotland and Wales.

Two sets of law

The Gambling Act 2005 and the Gambling Commission's licences cover Great Britain: England, Scotland and Wales. Northern Ireland has its own legislation, the Betting, Gaming, Lotteries and Amusements (Northern Ireland) Order 1985, and its own authorities.

What that means for this site

Every operator Gambling Atlas lists is licensed by the Gambling Commission for Great Britain, and everything we write about licences, offers and safer gambling tools follows the rules that apply there. Our listings and links are therefore aimed at readers in Great Britain and not at readers in Northern Ireland, and we say so on every page.

Why we do not block anyone

We show the same pages to every visitor rather than hiding them by location. A notice that everyone can read is clearer than a page that changes depending on where you are, and it keeps the site the same for readers, regulators and search engines alike.

If you live in Northern Ireland

Help with gambling is available wherever you live in the UK. GamCare's National Gambling Helpline, 0808 8020 133, takes calls from across the UK, and GAMSTOP (opens in a new tab) is open to UK residents.
